Can we disciple others through the way that we give gifts? I believe we can! So often we have people on our Christmas list that we struggle with gift ideas for. I know I have them on my list. This year we asked our kids, “What do you want or need for Christmas?” One of our kids really had to think hard and dig up something that they needed or wanted. Often we have to think, research, pray, shop … for that special gift for someone. Then like the Christmas Tree in the woods on Christmas Vacation movie, the gift is there in front of us with lights shining around it and the music in the background inspiring us to purchase the gift. That would be nice, but most of the time we just grab something and hope they like the gift.
What if we looked at Discipleship Through Gift Giving? This Christmas Eve we will look at how God so loved the world that He Gave His Son. You may know this verse in John 3:16. Notice the discipleship in this verse. God loved and He gave. The Incarnation is the best Discipleship Gift Giving we could ever imagine. What would happen if we gave to those around us the greatest gift they could also receive? No, I am not giving up my son for anyone! What if we drew closer to God, built upon the relationship we have with the Father and became an Intentional Disciple of Christ? You want to give an amazing gift to someone? Give them a gift of your life fully surrendered to Christ! That will be the gift that keeps on giving all year long. Yes, another reference to Christmas Vacation.
We look forward to you joining us this Christmas Eve! 5:30PM
