“But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.” Luke 24:1-3. Why did they not find the body of our Lord Jesus? He had already risen! Before the dawn of that day, Jesus was already alive! We celebrate the Resurrected Savior knowing that the Sunday morning, before early dawn, Jesus was raised to Life!
We had a wonderful gathering on Sunday as we joined in with all of Heaven remembering this truth of the resurrection. We sang many songs declaring our hope in Jesus, heard the Word of God explaining the truth of the resurrection, participated in Communion together as Jesus commands us to and enjoyed fellowship together.
This message below comes from Luke 24:13-49. Two of the followers of Jesus came into Jerusalem to celebrate Passover with the Disciples, but had their faith and hope wrecked as Jesus was taken captive and gave up His life to be crucified. All of their hopes were now in question. They began the 7 mile journey back home to Emmaus, but were greeted along the way by a man on the road. As they walked this man opened up the Scriptures to them beginning with Moses. The scriptures they were reminded of taught all about the coming of the Messiah. At one point they recognized who it was they were talking to and everything changed.
I encourage you to watch this message and wrestle with these questions at the end of the message. Where have we turned away from following Jesus? Would we have immediately turned around and traveled back?
